Minnesota Fire Marshal Retiring 26 Oct 13

Minnesota’s top fire official is retiring. State Fire Marshal Jerry Rosendahl will retire in December after 40 years with the Minnesota fire service, including nearly 10 years as fire marshal. Rosendahl started his career in 1974 as a Woodbury volunteer firefighter. He was assistant chief in Hastings for seven years and Owatonna fire chief for 13 years. Rosendahl was state director of emergency management before becoming fire marshal. Bruce West will replace Rosendahl on December 4th, and will also lead the Minnesota Office of Pipeline Safety, as Rosendahl did. West is a 35-year Minnesota fire service veteran, with stints with Anoka-Champlin and Elk River. Since June 2011, he has served as executive director of the Minnesota Board of Firefighter Training and Education.
