A Canadian man has pleaded guilty to scamming Minnesotans out of thousands of dollars over the phone. 35-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of theft by swindle on Monday. He is accused of stealing over $15,500 from senior citizens in several Minnesota communities, including Glencoe. Attias would apparently call elderly residents claiming to be their grandson in need of money for bail following an arrest. That call was sometimes followed by another in which he or another person he was working with would claim to be a lawyer and tell the seniors where to send the money. His sentencing is now set for January 10th.
