Crash Knocks Out Nicollet Power 08 Oct 13

Over 500 residents of the Nicollet area were without power much of Saturday morning after a car crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Highways 14 and 99. The crash occurred at just after 2am when 19-year-old Ryan Scott Ellingson of Courtland lost control of his Toyota Corolla and it went into the ditch and knocked over a utility pole. Ellingson received no serious injuries in the crash, but at least 586 Xcel Energy customers in the area were without power until after 9am that morning due to the damage to the power lines. The pole was replaced and the lines repaired, and power has since been fully restored.
