Minnesotans should think about contacting their utilities office to learn more about the Cold Weather Rule, which goes into effect Tuesday. The rule offers protection to keep homes heated all winter long.
Residential utility customers who are signed up for the program cannot have their heat sources shut off through April 15. If you need help paying your heating bills, Minnesota offers the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program, which is federally funded through the US Department of Health and Human Services. Applications were recently sent to households that qualify for energy assistance last year.
