The Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council has awarded grants of over $126,000 from the Arts and Culture Heritage Fund to 21 organizations in the area. Two groups in Brown County were awarded grants.
The New Ulm Actors’ Community Theatre received a grant of $7000 for several theater and educational programs, projects, classes and workshops for youth and adults during the 2013-2014 season, as well as the purchase of an electric piano. Christkindmarkt received a $4000 grant to sponsor their annual folk arts and cultural heritage festival later in November.
The Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota, Mankato Symphony Orchestra, Sweet Adelines, Nicollet County Arts Center of St. Peter, Minnesota New Country School, as well as St. Peter Choral Society are among the many other organizations receiving grant money. The fund was created by the people of Minnesota to support the arts and preserve their heritage.
