A 16-year-old boy from Winthrop has been charged with multiple felony counts in Sibley County Court for his alleged involvement in a burglary in Winthrop. Daniel Harvey Meyer Jr and another juvenile had reportedly been spotted at the residence prior to the burglary being reported. Items stolen from the home included televisions, firearms, and a computer. Many of those stolen items were allegedly found at the Gibbon home of 24-year-old Michael Karstein Eng, who has been charged with possession of stolen property. He claimed he didn’t know they were stolen. Meyer Jr was placed on house arrest last week after being released from a juvenile detention center, but was then apparently spotted driving his father’s 4-wheeler into Winthrop, and he allegedly attempted to flee from police. He has been charged with 2nd-degree burglary, theft, theft of a firearm, theft of a motor vehicle, and fleeing police in a motor vehicle, and is back in custody.
