A Belle Plaine man was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when a semi-truck collided with his street sweeper on Highway 60 west of Lake Crystal. The eastbound lanes of Highway 60 between Blue Earth County Roads 30 and 32 were closed for several hours following the crash, which happened at around 1:40pm. The State Patrol says that 53-year old Thomas Cody of Belle Plaine was driving the street sweeper eastbound on 60 when an eastbound Peterbilt semi collided with it and the sweeper then rolled into the median. Cody was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with serious injuries. A condition report is not available. The driver of the semi, 25-year old Justin Grimmius of Lake Wilson was not injured.
