Three people were injured in a crash about 8 miles south of Danube Monday morning. It happened at just after 8am at the intersection of Renville County Roads 1 and 4. Investigators say that a 2008 Jeep driven by 47 year-old Curtis Schmidt of rural Danube was apparently southbound on County Road 1 when it was broadsided by a westbound 2008 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck driven by 66 year-old Keith Kibbel of Forest Lake. Schmidt and his passenger, 11 year-old Cameron Schmidt, had to be extricated from their vehicle and were both flown from the scene to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Their current conditions are unknown. Kibbel was taken by ambulance to the Renville County Hospital in Olivia with non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles were totaled. The crash remains under investigation by the Renville County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
