A special dual-celebration is being held in New Ulm this Saturday. The festival commemorates both the 125th anniversary of the laying of the Hermann Monument Cornerstone and the 150th anniversary of the founding of the New Ulm Battery. New Ulm Mayor Bob Beussman says that there’s a full day of events planned. He says the day starts in the morning at Hermann Heights Park, where there will be music by the Original German Band, the Concord Singers, and the Schell’s Hobo Band, as well as the re-dedication of the monument cornerstone. The celebration then moves down the hill to Harman Park, where the Municipal Band will perform, accented by cannon fire, followed by fireworks at 8:30 and then music by Jonah and the Whales. There will also be food and beverages served throughout the day and appearances by several dignitaries.
