MNsure Data Breach Examination 24 Sep 13

A special panel is convening at the State Capitol today (TUE) to examine a personal data security breach through Minnesota’s new MNsure health insurance exchange. A MNsure employee apparently sent out an e-mail with the names and Social Security numbers of 16-hundred insurance brokers, but MNsure Spokesperson Jenni Bowring-McDonough says personal information is “absolutely secure” for those buying health insurance. The MNsure health insurance exchange is set to launch October 1st. It is Minnesota’s part of the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as ObamaCare, which requires all Americans to purchase health insurance by January 1st or face penalties.
