McLeod County 2014 Tax Levy 05 Sep 13

The McLeod County Board approved a preliminary budget for 2014 this week which calls for a 2.27% increase in the county’s property tax levy. McLeod County has had several years of no levy increases, with the Board opting to offset deficits by spending down reserves instead. There were no staff layoffs during that time as well, although wages remained relatively flat. The Board opted for the tax increase next year because the county is reportedly poised to put some long-range plans into place, and county commissioners say that more revenue will help McLeod County take on those projects.
