The power was knocked out at Cashwise Foods in New Ulm Sunday afternoon, and at and around the stoplight at the nearby Highway 14 intersection after a car hit 2 power transformers off the side of the highway. 22-year-old Kathryn Ann Piehl of Sleepy Eye was driving a 2010 Chevy Impala eastbound on Highway 14 when she apparently became dizzy and lost control of the vehicle at just before 2:30pm just west of the County Road 29 intersection. The car then collided with a tree and rolled as it hit the 2 power boxes. The extent of Piehl’s injuries is unknown. Her vehicle took severe damage. Power was restored a few hours later.
