Although Labor Day marks the unofficial end to summer, the need for blood continues. The American Red Cross says that all types are needed, with an urgent need for A-, B-, and O- blood and platelet donations. All donors over the next week will be entered to win one of five $1,000 American Express gift cards as well, and the Bloomobile will be in New Ulm and Sleepy Eye this week, amongst other local stops. On Tuesday donors can Give The Gift Of Life at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm or the Eagles Orchid Inn of Sleepy Eye, both from 1 to 7pm. On Wednesday and Thursday the blood drives move to the Vogel Fieldhouse at the New Ulm Recreation Center from 1 to 7pm, and on Friday from 8am to 1pm at Vogel. The Bloodmobile will also be at St. Ann’s Parish Center in Janesville from 1 to 7 on Wednesday, and the Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur from 1 to 7 on Friday.
