Residents of St. Peter may see a tax levy increase of more than 5% next year. The St. Peter City Council on Monday received the city’s proposed budget for 2014, which includes a recommended increase of the levy of over $112,000. St. Peter’s tax levy remained unchanged in 2011 and 2012, and in 2013 went up by only around $37,000. City officials say the levy and budget come down to meeting the council’s goals and providing the level of service that citizens demand. The council will officially set the preliminary levy for St. Peter on September 9th.
