Governor Dayton and Minnesota legislative leaders say a special session to pass disaster aid for areas affected by June storms may not be necessary. The governor met with lawmakers Friday. Though a date for a possible special session was set for September 9th, lawmakers are trying to determine whether leftover funds from previous disasters may be used in order to avoid the expense of a special session. The governor and legislators also discussed the possibility of repealing a sales tax on farm equipment, but did not come to any agreement. The governor plans to meet with lawmakers again this week for further discussion.
