Royals Sweep Twins 30 Aug 13

Kansas City lefty Bruce Chen and three relievers combined on a five-hitter as the Royals completed a three-game sweep of the Twins with a 3-1 win at Target Field yesterday.  Chen allowed five hits and one run over five-and-two-thirds innings to improve to 6-and-2.  Greg Holland got the final three outs for his 36th save as Kansas City won its fifth straight.  Alcides Escobar, Chris Getz and Alex Gordon all singled in runs in the second inning for the Royals, who took 15-of-19 meetings with Minnesota this season.  Brian Dozier homered for the Twins.  Samuel Deduno fell to 8-and-8 with the loss.

 Twins Open Road Trip Tonight In Texas

The Twins open up a six-game road trip tonight in Texas against the Rangers.  Minnesota will then head to Houston for three games with the Astros.  Liam Hendricks gets the ball for the Twins in tonight’s series opener.  He is 0-and-2 with a 6.20 ERA in four starts.  The Rangers will counter with Yu Darvish, who is 12-and-5 with a 2.68 ERA.
