Authorities evacuated the New Ulm Wal-Mart store Thursday morning after a person made a “disturbing” comment to an employee. New Ulm Police Sergeant Dean Barstow says that officers were called over concerns about the individual’s behavior, although he did not threaten anyone specifically. Surveillance video showed that the man had left the store, and police ruled that there was no threat. They were called out to the store at just after 11am. The unidentified suspect apparently said “It’s a good day to die, and I’m going to take as many people as possible with me.” Authorities say that he left the store at around 11:45, and was seen getting into a white sleeper-semi with “MCP” on the side. The truck was believed to be heading for Illinois. No further information is available at this time.
