The New Ulm City Council on Tuesday approved a request for the Park and Rec Department to apply for 2 grants that will be used towards the construction of a new dog park for the community. Councilor Les Schultz applauded the fundraising efforts for the park. Around $6,000 has already been raised of the $10-15,000 that is needed. The grants the city will be applying for include $4,500 from the New Ulm Area Foundation and $2,000 from the Nutro Pet Food Company’s “Room To Run” Dog Park Appreciation Project. In other business Tuesday, the council discussed & approved the New Ulm Convention & Visitor Bureau’s $96,000 annual budget.
