A 35-year-old special education teacher from Hibbing has announced that he’s running for governor. Rob Farnsworth says he intends to seek the Republican endorsement to challenge Democratic incumbent Mark Dayton next year. Farnsworth is making his second run for political office. In 2010, he sought Republican endorsement to run against then-US Representative Jim Oberstar, but dropped out when Chip Cravaack won the GOP nod. Farnsworth says he would bring a strong union background to the race. The father of 3 says he also wants to reform education. Businessman Scott Honour, Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson, state Senator Dave Thompson and state Representative Kurt Zellers are the other Republicans running for governor, so far.
