More Charges For Sex Offender 22 Aug 13

A 58-year-old former New Ulm man who has been civilly committed is reportedly facing 6 new counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct for allegedly molesting a young girl numerous times nearly 30 years ago. John Howard Thuringer has four prior convictions of criminal sexual conduct in Blue Earth and Nicollet Counties from 2002. Authorities now say that a girl in St. Peter may have been sexually assaulted once or twice a week for the 5 years Thuringer was married to her mother beginning in 1984. The abuse apparently began when the girl was 7-years-old and Thuringer was 30. The victim’s mother told investigators that she worked overnight and that Thuringer was the sole caretaker at the time. Earlier this year Thuringer was on intensive supervised release in New Ulm for a separate sexual abuse conviction, but was civilly committed to the sex offender facility in Moose Lake.
