Local Dairy Farm Couple Wins Award 30 Aug 13

Grand Champion, Whirlwind Acres Mint Ember exhibited by Fritsche Farms

A local dairy farm couple was given an award yesterday at the MN State Fair during the Open Class Show.  Paul and Melanie Fritsche received the “Elgin Award.”  It is memory and honor of Karl Mueller, of Arlington, a long time registered Holstein Breeder who has received numerous awards for his accomplishments including being inducted into the MN Livestock Breeders Hall of Fame with his brother John.  Karl died in 2005.  The award started in 2006.  The award is given to an a breeder who enjoys showing cattle as much as Karl did, who exhibits sportsmanship, helping others, passionate about the dairy industry and the list goes on.  The award was given yesterday by Kenn  Mueller, Karl’s son.  Besides the award, they also received a Elgin Watch. Various registered breeders from around the state have received the award including Brown Swiss, Jersey and Holstein Breeders.  The Fritsches milk Guernseys. 

In other news… the Fristches walked away with A LOT of hardware at the MN State Fair during their Open Class Show on Tuesday.  They had Intermediate Champion with their 3 year old.  She then went on to be the Grand Champion of the Show!  78 head were exhibited at the HOT MN State Fair in the Guernsey Show.  The Fritsche Family also hadHonorable Mention Grand Champion and Reserve Senior Champion.
