Kansas City’s Alex Gordon was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI to help the Royals pull out a 5-2 win over the Twins to take two of three in Missouri. Alcides Escobar added two hits and two RBI. Greg Holland locked up his 30th save, while reliever Louis Coleman picked up his second win. Kansas City has won four of five to move to 58-and-53. Brian Dozier collected three hits, an RBI and a run scored for the Twins. He finished a homer short of the cycle. Samuel Deduno allowed 12 hits and four runs to take the loss. Minnesota is 49-and-62. The Twins are off today and open a four-game, three-day series in Chicago against the White Sox tomorrow.
Twins Recall Hendriks
The Twins have recalled pitcher Liam Hendriks from Class AAA Rochester. He will start game two of a day-night doubleheader in Chicago tomorrow. Hendriks has made 14 starts for the Red Wings this season and is 3-and-8 with a 5.12 earned run average. He made two starts earlier this season for the Twins, losing one of those tilts and getting a no-decision in the other. He threw nine-and-two-thirds innings in the two contests and sported a 4.66 ERA.
