Advance Fee Loan Scam Warning 30 Aug 13

The Better Business Bureau is warning Minnesotans about bogus “advance fee loans” that scammers are offering – particularly to people in tough financial situations. Spokesperson Barb Grieman says those looking into “payday loans” online are especiallly vulnerable. She says their names are being sold to scammers, who then call them later and try to get them to believe they will get the loan. Grieman warns that if someone says you need to pay money up front to receive a loan, it’s bogus – and illegal. She says that the latest such fraudulent Minnesota business to pop up on their radar is called “Northwestern Financial.”
