A resident of a St. Peter apartment complex was hospitalized early Monday morning after a fire broke out in her bedroom. The fire at Fairview Apartments on Nichols Court in St. Peter broke out at just after midnight, and St. Peter firefighters were on the scene for nearly 2 hours battling the blaze. Authorities say that the woman’s hair was singed and she suffered from smoke inhalation, but was otherwise OK. Investigators believe the fire was caused by a lit candle. It was contained to the one bedroom, although the rest of the apartment as well as four adjacent apartments did sustain smoke damage. A damage estimate is not available at this time.
