New Ulm School Shooting Drill 11 Jul 13

Law enforcement and emergency management officials from 8 different agencies are taking part in a school shooting training exercise in New Ulm today (THU). The “Active Shooter” drill began at 10am, with law enforcement personnel being stationed at Jefferson Elementary and St. Paul’s Lutheran School on South Payne Street as well as at New Ulm Area Catholic Schools on North State Street. Agencies involved include the Brown-Lyon-Redwood Emergency Response Unit, the New Ulm, Sleepy Eye and Springfield Police Departments, the New Ulm Fire Department, the Brown and Nicollet County Sheriff’s Offices, and Brown County and New Ulm Emergency Management. The drill is intended to ensure the most unified response to an actual school shooting, and the public should not be alarmed by the activity taking place near the New Ulm schools today.
