Today marks Major League Baseball’s trade deadline. All non-waiver deals must be completed by 3 p.m. this afternoon. Twins first baseman Justin Morneau has been rumored to a trade candidate, but so far nothing has happened. There was one major deal finalized last night involving three American League teams. The Chicago White Sox shipped right-handed veteran Jake Peavy to the Boston Red Sox in a three-team, seven-player deal. The Red Sox will trade infielder Jose Iglesias to the Detroit Tigers while outfielder Avisail Garcia heads from Detroit to Chicago. The 32-year-old Peavy was widely viewed as one of the top trade chips prior to today’s deadline. Boston also sends minor leaguers J.B. Wendelken, Frank Montas and Cleuluis Rondon to Chicago in the deal while acquiring pitcher Brayan Villarreal from the Tigers.
