It’s been nearly 3 weeks since a 51-year-old man from South Dakota went missing while kayaking on the Minnesota River near Courtland, but the search for his body continues. Brown County Chief Deputy Jason Seidl says that a typical recovery effort only lasts a few days, but the search for Stephen Fritze has included some difficult challenges. He says some of the variables on the river are: the current, the recent increased rainfall, and the downfall of a lot of trees along the river. Fritze, who has family in the area, has been missing since his kayak overturned near a bend in the river on June 22nd. Over 40 rescue crew workers have been out on the river searching for him since then. They are now alternating shifts, and are on the water for about 4 hours a day.
