Law enforcement agencies from around the area spent nearly 4 hours searching North Mankato Monday afternoon for a fugitive who was the object of a massive manhunt last week as well. 31-year-old Jacob John Friedrichs is wanted on charges of 1st-degree assault and fleeing a peace officer. He evaded authorities last Tuesday, but Nicollet County Sheriff Dave Lange says that he was spotted Monday afternoon and officers attempted to approach him, at which point he fled in a vehicle. Lange says that Friedrichs has put a lot of people’s lives at risk, and is a danger to the public because he has no regard for the public. He reportedly drove the wrong way down the highway and then put his vehicle in a ditch. The search began at around 3pm Monday, but was called off at just before 7 due to the high heat and humidity. A total of 10 local law enforcement agencies were involved in the search, along with K-9 units and a State Patrol helicopter. Friedrichs was last seen fleeing on foot into the hills of North Mankato near the intersection of Highways 14 and 169. Authorities are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911.
