The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s office has announced that a wanted fugitive that was the object of 2 major manhunts this past week is now in custody. 31-year old Jacob Friedrichs was wanted for a parole violation, as well as assaulting an officer and fleeing police. Blue Earth County Sheriff Brad Peterson says that Friedrichs had almost been caught several times, but had help escaping. Friedrichs was sent to prison in 2005 for producing methamphetamine. On Monday he reportedly drove the wrong way on Highway 14 in North Mankato and exited on an entrance ramp before ditching his car and running into the woods. Dozens of law enforcement officers, several K9 units, and a State Patrol helicopter were unable to locate him at that time. He was taken into custody without incident at around 11:30 Tuesday night at a home in Mankato.
