A Japanese trade delegation is on a tour of southern Minnesota pork producers. The five-member delegation stopped in the Mankato area Tuesday and the buyers met with representatives of the Minnesota Pork Producers Association and Minnesota Soybean, as well as Courtland-area Pork Producers Reuben and Judy Bode. Their message was that Minnesota pork producers care deeply about food safety, and that the industry is highly regulated. Minnesota is third nationwide in the number of pigs raised, and the industry generates more than $2-billion in annual gross revenue statewide. Japan is the largest importer of American pork.
