Food Stamp Fraud Sentence 31 Jul 13

A New Ulm woman was sentenced to 2 years of probation and 25 hours of community service in Brown County Court on Monday for using her son’s food stamp EBT card without permission. 51-year-old Maria Lewandowski was also ordered to pay $1,200 in restitution after reportedly using the card more than 40 times at several New Ulm businesses over the course of 5 months in 2011. She will also be required to follow any mental health therapy recommendations. If Lewandowski successfully completes her probation the wrongfully obtaining public assistance charge will be dismissed.
