A memorial to a plane crash near Comfrey 50 years ago is being dedicated Sunday afternoon. A B-47 Bomber crashed in a field 3 miles north of Comfrey in February of 1963 while on a training mission from a Nebraska Air Force base. The memorial to the crash is located in Comfrey, and was made possible through the work of the community’s American Legion post as well as donations from numerous sources. The dedication ceremony on Sunday in the Comfrey City Park begins at 1pm, and will include the Minnesota Patriot Guards, the Civil Air Patrol, color guards from area Legion posts, Air Force dignitaries, and friends and family of the 4 men who lost their lives in the crash. Everyone is invited to attend the dedication ceremony.
