The 18th annual Brown County Relay For Life was held overnight Friday at the county fairgrounds in New Ulm. Co-Organizer Sue Dietz says that a total of 22 teams and 220 walkers took part in the American Cancer Society fundraiser. She reports that a total of $103,430 was raised and more than 4,000 Luminaries were lit. The top fundraising team was Citizens Bank with more than $17,000 and second place was the New Ulm Medical Center team with over $8,600. The top 2 fundraising individuals were Jeanne Kretsch with $3,606 and Beth Wendinger with $3,180. Both were on the Citizens Bank team. This year’s honorary chair was Denise Clyne of New Ulm, and the Survivor’s Lap featured more than 200 participants. Dietz says that the Brown County Relay For Life has now raised around $1.5-million over the course of 18 years.
