Twins Play Phillies, Roster Moves 11 Jun 13

The Twins begin a nine-game homestand tonight at Target Field with the start of a three-game series against Philadelphia.  This is the Twins’ second consecutive interleague series, having just lost two of three in Washington over the weekend.  All three games in the upcoming series will use the designated hitter since the set is being played in an American League park.  First pitch tonight is 7:10 p.m. at Target Field.

 Hicks Onto DL

The Twins have placed rookie outfielder Aaron Hicks on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.  Hicks suffered the injury in the fifth inning of Sunday’s loss to Washington.  The 23-year-old is hitting just .179 in 55 games.  The Twins recalled outfielder Oswaldo Arcia from Triple-A Rochester to fill the roster spot.

Phils’ Kratz Has Medial Meniscus Tear

An MRI on Phillies catcher Erik Kratz has revealed a medial meniscus tear in his left knee that will require surgery.  Kratz suffered the injury in the Phils’ 4-3 loss to the Brewers on Saturday.  He is hitting .229 with eight homers and 22 RBI in 43 games this season.  He was placed on the disabled list and will miss this week’s series in Minnesota.
