State Reports New Phone Scam 26 Jun 13

The state Department of Public Safety is warning Minnesotans about a new telemarketing scam. The phony calls begin with a recorded message claiming to be from the Minnesota DMV saying that you’re paying too much for car insurance. The Department of Public Safety’s Bruce Gordon says that it appears to be an attempt to sell insurance, but is a scam. He says there is no such agency as the Minnesota DMV, and if you hear from these telemarketers, you should simply hang up the phone.
