A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday for the New Ulm Medical Center’s newly expanded and remodeled birthing center. The million-dollar project began in the fall of 2012, and was supported by $200,000 in donations made by over 700 local donors. The renovation added two new labor and delivery rooms and updated the 4 existing rooms. The redesigned area also features a larger nursery and improved amenities for families, and moved the nurse’s station closer to the nursery, increasing efficiency for staff and physicians. The New Ulm Medical Center delivers around 300 babies a year. To view a four-minute video showcasing the new birthing center expansion, go online to www.newulmmedicalcenter.com.
