Minnesota’s longtime state economist is retiring. Tom Stinson announced his retirement Monday after 26 years in the job. He’s the longest serving state economist in Minnesota history, having served under 5 different governors. The 70-year-old Stinson will continue with his work in the economics department at the University of Minnesota. The state budget agency says that Laura Kalambokidis will take over for Stinson. She is also an economics professor at the U-of-M, and will be the first woman to serve as state economist since the position was created in 1975.
