Local Weekend Motorcycle Crashes 24 Jun 13

A Sleepy Eye woman was hurt in a motorcycle accident north of Cobden Sunday afternoon. Two motorcycles were involved in the incident on Brown County Road 7 in rural Sleepy Eye. Both riders were travelling northbound when they failed to negotiate a curve in the road at the intersection with 250th Street at around 3:15pm. 53-year-old Kent Joel Augustin of Sleepy Eye drove his motorcycle into the ditch and was able to exit it without incident. 52-year-old Eileen Rene Augustin was forced to lay her bike down on the pavement, and suffered injuries to her right shoulder and ribs, as well as road rash on her arms. She was wearing a helmet, and was taken to the Sleepy Eye Medical Center for treatment.

A St. Peter man was injured Saturday afternoon when his motorcycle was hit by a car in St. Peter. It happened at around 4:30pm at the intersection of Highway 169 and Jefferson Avenue. 27-year-old Timothy Witty was driving a 2001 Harley Davidson Roadster eastbound on Jefferson and was turning onto northbound 169 when he was hit by the southbound Ford Focus as it turned westbound onto Jefferson. Witty was taken to River’s Edge Hospital in St. Peter to be treated for non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Focus, 19-year-old Isaiah Connell of Montevideo was not hurt.
