Officials are still trying to determine what caused a helicopter to crash into a detached garage in Maplewood Wednesday morning, killing the pilot. The helicopter was working on behalf of the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District, and was based out of Le Sueur. The Executive Director for the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District, Jim Stark says that the helicopter was owned by Scott’s Helicopter Service, and had been contracted for mosquito control in the 7-county metro area. He says the Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating the crash. The pilot of the plane has been identified as 44-year-old Michael Kramer of St. Charles, who died at the scene.
