The Glencoe Silver Lake School Board is considering trying to get another bond referendum passed this year. The board reviewed the latest option for a building bond at its recent meeting. This would be the third time that Glencoe Silver Lake has asked district voters to approve a bond referendum in recent years, but the price has now increased considerably compared to the previous attempts. The proposed $18.6-million bond from 2 years ago will now cost $25-million, and what would have cost $153 per square-foot to build new in 2011 will now cost GSL $197. Remodeling a square-foot would have cost $82 two years ago, and is now up to $95. No decision has been made at this time, and the issue will be discussed further during an upcoming workshop.
