Gopher Womens Hockey, Football News 27 Jun 13

 More honors are rolling in for the national champion women’s hockey at the University of Minnesota.  Star player Amanda Kessel of Madison, Wisconsin has been named the Big Ten Conference Female Athlete of the Year.  The junior led the Gophers to their second straight NCAA title, while helping keep the Gophers undefeated through the entire run with a 41-and-0 record.  Head coach Brad Frost was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year, while the team itself was named the Big Ten Team of the Year.  The women’s hockey team went up against all other female teams in all sports in the Big Ten for to win the annual Big Ten Awards, as announced last evening. 

 Gophers LB Edwards Kicked Off Team 

Minnesota Golden Gophers linebacker Lamonte Edwards has reportedly been kicked off the team.  Edwards was booted from the team for a violation of team rules.  According to a search warrant, Edwards was arrested for stealing an iPhone from the U-of-M weight room.  Charges are pending.
