Two men are facing felony charges in Redwood County Court for the alleged theft of electricity. 42-year-old Timothy Dean Wertish of Redwood Falls is charged with one count of felony theft and 65-year-old Terry Dean Johnson of Springfield with aiding and abetting felony theft. They made their first appearances in court on Monday. The 2 are accused of conspiring to steal around $6,000 worth of electrical power from the Rural Electrical Cooperative at Wertish’s home in Redwood County. Additional charges are expected for a similar scheme involving power stolen from the Redwood Falls public utilities at the Redwood Auto Sales business owned by Wertish. The 2 are due back in court June 17th. 61-year-old Debra Wertish and 32-year-old Sommer Dawn Wertish of Redwood Falls are expected to be charged with obstructing and tampering with evidence in connection with the thefts as well.
