Boating While Intoxicated Crackdown 27 Jun 13

The DNR and other agencies kick off a stepped-up boating-while-intoxicated crackdown today (THU) as we head towards the Fourth of July holiday. DNR Captain Greg Salo says they will be concentrating on popular, high-traffic lakes around the state, but officers will be patrolling smaller bodies of water as well. He also says that boaters need to be especially careful this year because of debris dislodged by high water, and impaired reflexes make that situation even more dangerous. Alcohol was a contributing factor in one-third of all deadly boating accidents in Minnesota last year.
