The Arlington City Council this week unanimously voted to suspend Arlington Police Chief Bruce Rovinsky for one day, without pay. This action comes after Chief Rovinsky was found to be in contempt of court earlier this month by Sibley County Judge Thomas McCarthy. The contempt charge was from Rovinsky failing to appear in court to testify on a civil matter. When the judge asked about his failure to appear, Rovinsky said he simply forgot. When asked why he did not respond to calls to contact him that day, he said he had turned off his cell phone after a late shift the night before. The charge will be removed from the chief’s record if he does not have another violation within the next year.
