After a cold and wet spring, Minnesota farmers have finally made significant progress in planting. The US Department of Agriculture says there were more-than 3 days rated suitable for fieldwork last week. That compares with only 1 day the week before. But statewide temperatures remained below normal last week, and planting is off-pace. Only 18% of Minnesota’s corn crop was planted as of the end of the week, well behind both last year’s 86% and the 5-year average of 68%.
