Twins Lose in 10th 18 May 13

Jonny Gomes drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning as the Red Sox rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Twins in the opener of a three-game series at Target Field. Pedro Florimon hit a two-run home run for the Twins. Josh Roenicke suffered the loss for Minnesota, which lost its third straight game. The Twins and Sox continue the series tonight. Twins catcher Joe Mauer was held out of last night’s game against the Boston Red Sox with a sore back. The 30-year is riding a 14-game hitting streak and is batting .349 with a pair of homers and 13 RBI in 36 games this season. Ryan Doumit [[ DOH-mit ]] filled in behind the plate.
