The Minnesota Department of Transportation is advising motorists to be mindful of cracks and potholes on area highways. With the arrival of warmer air recently more vehicles, especially motorcycles, will be on the roads, but some highways finished the winter with increased pavement damage. Those include: Highway 15 from Highway 212 to Hutchinson, Highway 12 from Litchfield to Darwin, Highway 71 near Olivia, and Highway 71 from Redwood Falls to Highway 14. Maintenance crews have been working on repairing the cracks and holes. Officials say that Minnesota’s harsh winter conditions are very demanding on pavements, but cold and wet conditions limit the options for high quality repairs.
