SE MN Gets The May Day Snow 02 May 13

Wednesday’s May Day winter storm just barely missed the local area, with some residents of southeastern Minnesota digging out from more than a foot of snow this (THU) morning. A total of 13-inches of snow fell in Owatonna, and Interstate-35 was shut down near Owatonna for a while early this morning because of downed power lines. Utility crews are working to restore power to more than 15,000 Xcel Energy customers, and many southeast Minnesota school districts canceled classes today. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is advising no unnecessary travel in most southeast counties due to heavy snow and reduced visibility.
