New Ulm’s August Schell Brewing Company will break ground on a multi-million dollar expansion project today (WED). Schell’s Brewmaster Jace Marti says that the first phase will be a $2-million project to increase the brewery’s efficiency and capacity. The work will involve filling in an alley with a new room and adding on to the brewhouse, as well as the installation of new 19,000-pound tanks. The expansion will increase Schell’s brewing capacity by 100,000 barrels. Plans also call for installing energy-efficient upgrades at the Schell’s brewhouse.
