The New Ulm City Council is holding a Public Hearing concerning the city’s 2013 Surface Reconstruction Projects this (TUE) evening. Work will include 12 blocks at a cost of more than $415,000, of which over $102,000 in special assessments will be sought. The council will also consider awarding the contract for New Ulm’s 2013 Utility, Street and Alley Improvements during today’s meeting, which starts at 5pm at New Ulm City Hall. In other business, the council will consider a request from KNUJ to use the open-air city parking lot behind the former Ben Franklin building for the downtown New Ulm Farmers Market on Mondays this summer. The downtown Farmers Market needs a new location following the sale of its former site. The council will also consider giving the go-ahead on a project to repair the walls of the swimming pool at the New Ulm Recreation Center. The estimated cost of that project is $250,000.
